From Ocoee River Deli to Dam Deli and Diner
When we first opened our doors, we were known as Ocoee River Deli and Fresh Market. While the name reflected our local pride and original concept, we soon realized it was a bit of a mouthful—and not the easiest to remember. After some thought and a lot of conversation, we streamlined the name and added a clever twist.
We drew inspiration from a local landmark just a mile from us: Ocoee No. 1 Dam. With that, Dam Deli and Diner was born—a name that’s catchy, memorable, and rooted in local heritage.
A Dam Good Theme
Our name sparked an idea that turned into a full-blown design concept. Inside, you’ll find a playful and unique “dam décor” theme that blends local charm with a national flair. We showcase not only the dam that inspired our name, but also pay tribute to dams across the United States, many of which are now the namesakes of our menu items. Each dish named after a dam includes the state where it’s located, noted in parentheses for a fun and educational twist.
But we didn’t stop there. Our interior design reflects the history and culture of our community, featuring nods to the Cherokee National Forest, Ocoee River adventures, and the everyday lives of those who call this place home.

Our menu is as dynamic as our story. Crafted with input from our guests, inspired by our own favorites, and rooted in traditional flavors, it reflects the tastes and values of our community. We also take pride in naming many of our menu items after notable dams from across the country. It’s just one more way we celebrate American engineering, geography, and creativity—all on one delicious plate.

We’ve carefully aligned them with the local patterns of dining, seasonal shifts in foot traffic, and the financial realities of running a small business.
